The Church of Christ strives to be a non-denominational group of Christians who desire to live and to love as Jesus did. Our goal is to be New Testament Christians, following the Bible alone as our guide in all religious matters. Using the Bible's example of the New Testiment church's worship and teachings, we strive to restore that exact same church in the twentieth centur. We are not intending to establish another denomination, but rather, a return to the original church. We have no central organization, as each congregation of the Churches of Christ are independent of one another. Scriptures reveal that each congregation should be self-governing under the oversight of their elders. (I Peter 5:1-3). The local congregation at Mainland Church of Christ has approximately 160 in attendence on Sunday morning, while the Churches of Christ worldwide have over 2.5 million members. The Bible teaches that when a person chooses to become a Christian, he should accept Jesus as his Lord, and by his authority, be immersed in water, with the understanding that baptism is necessary in order to receive the forgiveness of sins. "...Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins..." (Acts 2:38). There is no other criteria to become a member of the church, other than that of becoming a Christian. At that time the Lord adds you to His church. "...And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved" (Acts 2:47). As a congregation, we have joined hearts and hands in a mutual work of service, with many ministries to encourage and help each other and those in our community. We urge you to investigate! It is our prayer that you, our friend, will not go to the judgment of Christ without investigating the teachings of the Word of God. We urge you to study the Bible alone as the only infallible guide in religious matters. We are not a sect; we have no creed books or manuals other than the Bible. We want you to visit with us, or the Church of Christ nearest to you. If you wish assistance in locating a congregation in your area, please leave us an e-mail message and we will be happy to reply with an address. Why not plan to visit and worship with us soon? If you
