SEPTEMBER 2007

TBB (Texas Bluewater Blowup) Big E 52 hour is the trip to remember for me. The first morning I only had 3 hours of sleep. I caught my first YFT of the day on my Penn 5OVSW. Later at another spot, I put a live hard tail on my MC Saltwater Tackle amberjack leader. Suddenly a fish pulls my rod. After about 20 minutes in my standup gear, the deck hands gaff the fish and bring this monster fish aboard....high fives all around. Strong tackle and huge fish make memorable fishing trips. I trust the leaders from MC Saltwater Tackle 100%.

AUGUST 2007

Loren and I managed to salvage an otherwise slow trip this past Saturday when this fella decided he was tired of living in the ocean... notice the girth of the fish in the pic with Loren (left)... very healthy fish that yielded excellent fillets to join the limit of snappers we landed earlier in the morning.

AUGUST 2007

I caught two yellowfin and probably 50 blackfin on the same leader two weeks ago at Nansen and Hoover. I also caught a wahoo on it with a jig. Didn't cut me off either. Dumb Luck or you guys use quality mono.... This is the same wind-on I took to Alaska where I caught fish on it there as well. After re-tying and losing jigs to cuda's etc. I am left with about a 4 foot wind on that is still fishable.

AUGUST 2007

Pulled up to a weed patch and saw a few small mahi. Then from the shadows, this very big-headed mahi made a pass by the boat. I pitched him a whole sardine on one of your sliding hook Kingfish Leaders and with just a little enticement the big bull ate and I let him swim off in free-spool to munch the bait before setting the hook. It was a great fight with some strong runs and some close calls with weed build-up, but as you can see from the pics, my good buddy Loren gaffed the fish and we landed the 32-pound fish.

JUNE 2007

Lots of bait busting on the surface and sky-rocketing kings were popping up every 10-15 minutes and we had two hit our trolled smokers, one stuck and we landed it weighed 37# The other big king honestly cleared 20 feet, one of the highest I've ever seen get airborne but it hit the trolling lure so hard it destroyed the skirt. It knocked the hook clear about 10 feet off it's nose so that was cool to see the whole thing play out with an estimated 40# plus king hovering as high as a 2-story house with what was left of our pink and white chugger floating as high right off his nose Also worth noting, we came across an estimated 60# sailfish free swimming right next to the boat and after we passed his position he came up and billed a lure and took drag, but never got the hook set. Exciting but frustrating. We've landed one of the three sails we've raised in that area.
