Savage Rods
Savage Rods has been building custom and semi-custom offshore fishing rods for approx 15 years. Don started building rods after losing fish due to rods breaking or rolling while fighting fish. And it was too expensive to keep buying replacement rods. There just has to be a better way to fish.
After much studying, input from quality anglers, experimenting and great tutoring, Don started building rods that would help land those trophy fish. That has led to the rods Savage Rods is building today.
Every Savage Rod is built the same way. The “spine” of the rod is found and all conventional type rods have the guides and reel seat centered on the spine. This will allow the rod to bend in the fashion it was intended, with its intended action, enabling the angler to let the rod fight the fish, not the angler. This will lessen the chance of the rod breaking or rolling on the angler while bringing in their fish.
All rods use top quality components such as Aftco and All American Roller Guides. Compromising quality is not acceptable. All roller rods use aluminum gimbals and slick butts.
Savage Rods is in the business to build quality rods for quality fisher men and fisher ladies. Light, durable, comfortable and affordable.
Each rod is hand built, one at a time. Each rod is closely inspected and tested before delivery to our customer. It has to be built right the first time.
Anything you put your name on, you must be proud of what you are building. We are. We feel we have a quality product that will stand up to the test of time. Sure, you can buy less expensive rods. But how happy are you going to be in the long run? And will you fight your fish, or let your rod fight your fish? And how many of those less expensive rods will you be buying when just one of ours will do?
